My name is Dewan, and this is my little corner of the internet. I wasn’t always sure about putting my name out there—but since I’m already on LinkedIn, that ship has sailed.
This site exists as a launchpad for my thoughts, ideas, and projects. It reflects my interests, goals, and aspirations, while giving me a space to think aloud, experiment, and grow in public.
There were a few reasons I chose to build and self-host this site rather than using platforms like Wix or one of the many WordPress resellers.
I control every part of this site—from the codebase to the content. In a future post, I’ll dive into the setup, but for now, it’s enough to say that security, data, and user experience are all in my hands. That means I can shape the site however I want.
This is my first time using a CMS that doesn't rely on a traditional database. The platform I chose is open source, lightweight, and efficient enough to run on a DigitalOcean droplet for under $10 USD/month. It’s been a rewarding technical challenge.
I’ve always wanted to build something of my own and share it with others. Whether it's software projects, short stories, poetry, or essays—this site is where those ideas will live. I’ll also write about topics that matter to me, like faith, technology, watches, mechanical keyboards, and photography.
In no particular order, here are a few things I care about deeply:
Until now, I’ve never had a consistent place to share those interests. That changes with this site.
Some personal goals I’m currently working on:
This section was the hardest to write—turns out defining aspirations requires some reflection.
In short: I want to keep learning, building, and sharing. I want to grow my ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and contribute meaningfully. This site is one step in that direction.
This site is built using Grav, a flat-file CMS that stores content as simple files, rather than relying on a database. It’s fast, flexible, and deeply customizable—perfect for developers who like to tinker.
If you're interested in how I set everything up, I’ll be publishing a technical overview soon.
Faith. Family. Focused work. Creative exploration. Quiet mornings. Good coffee. Honest conversations.
Thanks for reading.
Feel free to browse around, reach out, or check back from time to time. I’ll be sharing thoughts, projects, and maybe even a few poems as I go.
